Bouwe Bekking til minbaad.dk: Støt Nicholson og Vestas

Bouwe Bekking, lige nu nummer to i Volvo Ocean Race, tager nu bladet fra munden tre timer før etapen fra Loirent mod Göteborg, alligevel har minbaad.dk netop modtaget en mail fra en af verdens mest erfarne havkapsejlere, der har sejlet Volvo Ocean Race syv gange.

Han giver her sit syn på artiklen i Jyllands-Posten, hvor Vestas og skipperen kritiseres for at se stort på søfartsloven. Bl.a. kritiseres skipper Chris Nicholson for ikke at have nogen uddannelse i navigation. Noget der skulle have ført til Vestas grundstødning i november 2014.

Bouwe Bekking forklarer at han støtter op om den australske skipper på Vestas. En person han har sejlet rundt om jorden med to gange:

- Only just found out about the hammering of Team Vestas in the Danish press. I think all Danish sailors should stand up and support Chris and the team.

I brought Chris into the offshore scene /volvo race for a reason, he is bloody good and serious: sailed twice around the world with him and I know he is a responsible person and a superb teamleader.

Not only the sailors should support Chris , but as well the sailing press. Because of the Vestas entry a lot more Danish people are now aware what a fantastic sport we have.

Lets motivate them to step onboard a dinghy or yacht and not discourage them by bashing our sport with this kind of "news" coverage.
